Stay Away from BlueGhost Hosting

If you’re considering BlueGhost for your website hosting needs, think again. Marketed as a budget-friendly hosting solution with an “easy WordPress interface,” BlueGhost promises simplicity but delivers frustration in spades, at least that’s my experience with its WordPress hosting service.

WordPress Hosting Interface: A Major Flop

BlueGhost’s custom WordPress hosting interface is more of a hurdle than a help. Instead of leveraging the all-so-familiar cPanel dashboard for website management, users are forced to add websites through BlueGhost’s web hosting dashboard. This interface is riddled with bugs. And, you cannot choose a folder for add-on domain. It generates an ugly named folder, eg: website_4f5566v Worse yet, cPanel is essentially useless for adding new websites, making you completely reliant on their inefficient system.

Lousy Customer Support

Need help? Don’t count on BlueGhost’s support team. They’re painfully slow and unhelpful. After being bombarded with questions asking name and PIN even when you are logged into the dashboard, the support will make you wait endlessly. Their chat support seems to be handling multiple customers simultaneously. They will put you on hold for 10-15 minutes even for simple issues. A request for looking into the issue of free SSL certificate not being installed on a newly added website took over two days and still wasn’t resolved. For a hosting provider, this level of service is unacceptable.

False Promises and Frustrations

BlueGhost’s claims of being user-friendly and efficient are laughable. Their web hosting servers are oversold and provides slow performance for hosted websites. The lack of functional tools, coupled with abysmal support, makes it an utterly unreliable hosting provider.

Verdict: Stay Away!

BlueGhost might be cheap, but the headaches and wasted time aren’t worth the savings. If you’re serious about hosting your WordPress site, look elsewhere for a provider that respects your time and delivers on its promises.

Avoid BlueGhost and its sister companies such as Ghostgator. Your sanity and website will thank you!
